Job Summary
The Dispatcher role includes: planning, scheduling, coordinating, and controlling drivers, loads, and equipment. Duties include using telephone and computer to communicate assignments and compiling statistics and reports on work progress.
Daily Responsibilities:
Responsibilities- Prepare daily work and run schedules
- Record and maintain files and records of customer requests, work and services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and any additional dispatch information.
- Receive or prepare work orders and schedule appointments for pickups and deliveries.
- Determine types and amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, and personnel required, according to work orders.
- Permanent communication with drivers and customers regarding loads and deadlines.
- Advise personnel about traffic problems, weather conditions, or other hazards.
Lake Trucking, a national leading transportation company established in 1961, specializing in highly perishable, refrigerated products and time‑sensitive shipments, is looking for a Dispatcher.
Requirements Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Essential Qualifications- High School Diploma/GED
- Two years (2) work experience in dispatching
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Great organization skills – prioritize work assignments
- Time management and team work skills
- Ability to deal with a fast pace, stressful and organic environment
- Excellent skills in Excel and Outlook
- Decision‑making and problem‑solving skills
- Customer service experience and high attention to detail
- Associate’s Degree/Vocational Certification in Dispatch or related field.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and government regulations in the transportation industry.
- Three years (3) or more work‑related knowledge, skills or experience.
