We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Accounts Receivable (AR) Accountant with approximately five years of accounting experience to support our day-to-day finance operations in a fast-growing government contracting environment. Government contracting experience is a plus.

This role is responsible for billing, collections, and cash application to ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition and effective customer account management. The position works closely with a Senior Accounting professional on complex matters and operates within a fast-paced accounting environment that offers opportunities for increased responsibility and advancement based on performance.

Responsibilities
  • Accounts Receivable Operations
    • Support customer setup and maintenance
    • Assist with customer invoicing in accordance with contract and billing requirements
    • Track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances
    • Coordinate with internal teams to resolve billing or payment discrepancies
    • Support cash application and AR reporting as needed
  • Systems, Controls & Compliance
    • Utilize Microsoft Business Central for transaction processing and reporting (experience a plus)
    • Follow established accounting procedures, internal controls, and segregation of duties
    • Assist with process improvements, workflow documentation, and efficiency initiatives
    • Support compliance requirements relevant to government contracting, including audit support
  • Escalate complex or unusual transactions as appropriate
  • Support other accounting functions as needed to meet business demands
  • Work collaboratively with accounting, finance, and operational teams
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism in communications with internal stakeholders and customers
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 4+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Government contracting experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounts receivable and billing processes
  • Understanding of the monthly accounting cycle including general ledger and close processes
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables and lookup functions)
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central or similar ERP system a plus Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and data integrity
