Overview

Simms Showers LLP is seeking a part-time Finance Assistant. The role supports the Head of HR and Administration with all financial aspects of operating the firm, with potential to grow into a full-time position as responsibilities expand.

The Role

This role will initially be focused on assisting with financial tasks and will be 30–32 hours per week to start. After mastering the listed duties, there is an opportunity to increase responsibilities toward day-to-day administration of the business.

  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable and log financial data into Quick Books or related accounting software.
  • Track invoices, pay third-party vendors, write checks for staff/attorneys, record and process payments, and prepare deposits.
  • Log all deposits and payments into the accounting system.
  • Track accounts payable, reconcile vendor statements, and resolve discrepancies or billing issues.
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Prepare quarterly profit and loss statements and assist with annual/quarterly tax filings as needed.
  • Provide payroll support as needed.

Other duties may be assigned by the Head of HR and Administration.

Compensation & Benefits

This is an hourly, part-time position.

  • Hourly pay range of $25–$34 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Part-time schedule of approximately 30–32 hours per week.
Skills and Qualifications
  • College degree or relevant work experience.
  • Bookkeeping experience (Quick Books or other software).
  • Accounting experience (not required, but preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and process orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Analytical mindset with a desire to make processes more efficient and/or automated.
