We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Accounts Receivable (AR) Accountant with approximately five years of accounting experience to support our day-to-day finance operations in a fast-growing government contracting environment. Government contracting experience is a plus.
This role is responsible for billing, collections, and cash application to ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition and effective customer account management. The position works closely with a Senior Accounting professional on complex matters and operates within a fast-paced accounting environment that offers opportunities for increased responsibility and advancement based on performance.
Responsibilities- Accounts Receivable Operations
- Support customer setup and maintenance
- Assist with customer invoicing in accordance with contract and billing requirements
- Track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances
- Coordinate with internal teams to resolve billing or payment discrepancies
- Support cash application and AR reporting as needed
- Systems, Controls & Compliance
- Utilize Microsoft Business Central for transaction processing and reporting (experience a plus)
- Follow established accounting procedures, internal controls, and segregation of duties
- Assist with process improvements, workflow documentation, and efficiency initiatives
- Support compliance requirements relevant to government contracting, including audit support
- Escalate complex or unusual transactions as appropriate
- Support other accounting functions as needed to meet business demands
- Work collaboratively with accounting, finance, and operational teams
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism in communications with internal stakeholders and customers
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Government contracting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable and billing processes
- Understanding of the monthly accounting cycle including general ledger and close processes
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables and lookup functions)
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central or similar ERP system a plus Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and data integrity
