Introduction

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Legal Secretary located in the Civil Process section.

Job Summary
  • Essential job functions include but are not limited to: greet and direct citizens, law enforcement personnel, and attorneys in a courteous and professional manner; answer incoming calls and forward to appropriate interdepartmental staff or outside agencies; process, sort and assign court documents to deputies for service; enter into the software tracking system information from court documents; route all documents for return to appropriate courts and jurisdictions after they have been served and the dispositions have been entered into the software tracking system;

    prepare necessary correspondence; collect service fees; prepare deposits and remittances; reconcile monthly bank statements; general filing; ability to multitask and prioritize work in rapidly changing situations; position requires accurate and extensive data entry; and work collaboratively with civilian and sworn personnel to meet departmental goals.
  • Hiring salary will be commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of related clerical/administrative work experience with computer automated systems and office applications experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred but not required:
    Experience in legal office setting (secretary/receptionist/court clerk/paralegal).
  • Successful candidate must hold a Virginia Notary Public Commission or must obtain a commission within 60 days from the date of hire.

Selection process includes review of the Applicant Screening Questionnaire and County employment application, in-person interview(s), and an intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, credit check, driving record, and polygraph examination.
