Introduction
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Legal Secretary located in the Civil Process section.
Job SummaryEssential job functions include but are not limited to:
- greet and direct citizens, law enforcement personnel, and attorneys in a courteous and professional manner;
- answer incoming calls and forward to appropriate interdepartmental staff or outside agencies;
- process, sort, and assign court documents to deputies for service;
- enter information from court documents into the software tracking system;
- route all documents for return to appropriate courts and jurisdictions after service and disposition entry;
- prepare necessary correspondence;
- collect service fees;
- prepare deposits and remittances;
- reconcile monthly bank statements;
- perform general filing;
- multitask and prioritize work in rapidly changing situations;
- ensure accurate and extensive data entry; and
- work collaboratively with civilian and sworn personnel to meet departmental goals.
Hiring salary will be commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of related clerical/administrative experience with computer‑automated systems and office applications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred but not required: experience in a legal office setting (secretary, receptionist, court clerk, or paralegal).
- Successful candidate must hold a Virginia Notary Public Commission or obtain one within 60 days of hire.
Special Requirements
The selection process includes review of the Applicant Screening Questionnaire and County employment application, in‑person interviews, and an intensive background investigation that includes fingerprinting, a credit check, a driving record check, and a polygraph examination.
