Position: JKG Afternoon Teacher - Brookhaven, Morningside, Decatur (for Kindergarten-5th Grade)

The JKG Afternoon Community is a unique place for kids to play and learn, offering premium afternoon care with a full, experiential Hebrew school curriculum in a joyful Jewish community.

Job Summary

JKG Afternoon Community combines safe, reliable weekday afternoon care with a fun, enriching, camp-style experience. As a JKG Afternoon teacher, you will guide K–5th graders to build meaningful friendships, explore Jewish art and music, and learn Jewish values, culture, holidays, Torah stories, and Hebrew (lesson plans provided).

Locations

Morningside, Brookhaven, Decatur.

Days and Hours

Monday–Friday, 12:30 PM–6:15 PM (partial week roles may be available; students arrive at 2:30 PM).

Responsibilities
  • Create and facilitate Jewish art/music projects, Hebrew lessons, and games aligned with learning goals;
  • work under the direction of the Afternoon Director to document lesson plans;
  • participate in monthly staff and collaborative planning meetings;
  • attend holiday celebrations and promotional events (e.g., open houses, festival booths);
  • prepare classroom spaces daily;
  • drive the JKG van to pick up students from local schools.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Enjoy working with K–5th graders;
  • love and understand Jewish culture, holidays, and Hebrew;
  • experience as camp counselors, tutors, Sunday school teachers, or classroom teachers preferred;
  • Many teachers are experienced former teachers or enthusiastic community members; college students also welcome;
  • Ability to teach basic Hebrew and Judaic studies using provided plans required; formal certifications not required but a plus.
