Role Summary

The Treasurer manages all of the company’s funds and ensures that accurate financial records are kept, that all tax documents are created, and that budgets are followed.

General Responsibilities

Roughly 3 hours/week.

  • The Treasurer will reconcile monthly our accounting software with bank statements.
  • The Treasurer will present at monthly board meetings a reconciliation report to the Board of Directors.
  • The Treasurer will, in coordination with executive leadership (General Director, President, and Vice-President) process payroll and ensure all employees are paid in a timely manner.
  • The Treasurer will monitor the company’s bank account on a regular basis.
  • The Treasurer will, in coordination with executive leadership, ensure all bills are paid in a timely manner.
  • The Treasurer will monitor that budgets are followed.
  • The Treasurer will, in coordination with executive leadership, create season and project budgets, as well as balance sheets, P&L statements, and other necessary documentation.
  • The Treasurer will file annually a 990-EZ form (or equivalent form). (N.B. LLO’s fiscal year currently coincides with the calendar year.)
  • The Treasurer will complete and deliver 1099 or W9 forms (as applicable) annually to all employees.
Board Service Expectations

Roughly 2 hours per week.

  • Contribute $1,000 annually to the company as either cash and/or an in-kind contribution.
  • Make reasonable efforts to attend productions and events, attending a minimum of 3 events per season.
  • Volunteer as needed with front-of-house duties, such as ushering, ticketing, etc.
  • Meet as needed with the Finance Committee.
  • Represent the company in good faith and loyalty, and conduct themselves in a professional manner.
  • Attend monthly board meetings (virtual, with quarterly in-person meetings), as well as attend our annual retreat in late August.
Qualifications
  • Comfort with Quickbooks or similar accounting software
  • Familiarity with donation-based CRMs such as Givebutter, Zeffy, Neon One, or Bloomerang
  • Familiarity with ticketing-based CRMs such as Ticket Tailor, Thunder Tix, or eTix
  • Familiarity with POS providers such as Square or Stripe
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting, tax filing, and state and federal compliance
