Senior Cybersecurity Lab Consultant

The Senior Cybersecurity Lab Consultant will lead the physical build‑out, administration, and sustained operation of a critical, isolated OT/IT test and validation environment. This role is essential for accelerating the security and operational resilience of our client’s global data center fleet by providing a dedicated space for vulnerability management, new technology evaluation, and process certification for Operational Technology (OT) systems like BMS/PMS/SCADA.
Qualified candidates possess strong background in both IT (servers, networking, virtualization) and Industrial Control Systems (PLCs, HMIs) and hands‑on experience managing a high‑availability lab or data center environment.
Responsibilities- Physical
Infrastructure: collaborate with facilities/external vendors on physical preparation of the lab space, including:- Installation of KVM/Remote Access Infrastructure.
- OT/IT Hardware Acquisition & Setup: receive, inventory, rack, and power on all procured equipment, including bare‑metal servers, virtualization clusters, PLCs, edge device emulation, and backup solutions.
- Lab Environment Realism: lead the physical setup of simulated industrial networks and work spaces, install and configure network equipment for isolated OT segments, procure and maintain physical lab tools, industrial workbenches, and HMI/Client Testing Stations.

- SOPs: design, document, and maintain essential lab operating procedures, rapid Turn‑Up Process for provisioning new VMs or bare‑metal servers from pre‑built images, and documentation of detailed vulnerability remediation workflows.
- Security & Compliance: ensure the lab meets internal physical and logical security requirements, collaborate with Network Engineering for network isolation zone.
- Transition to Active Support: document daily tasks, tickets, requests, network and server configurations, maintenance cycles, security updates, bug listings; define and manage transition to a sustainable support model.

- Hands‑On Execution: primary remote hands resource for physical and logical tasks.
- Environment Management: facilitate build/destroy cycle for rapid testing support.
- Collaboration:
assist internal teams with technology evaluation pilots, deployment tests, and software installation.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in IT, data center, or industrial/OT lab environment.
- Hands‑on experience with coordinating industrial control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA), networking fundamentals, IT infrastructure, virtualization (such as VMWare), Linux command‑line administration, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Experience as a system administrator or technician in a datacenter or industrial plant setting.
- Strong understanding of network segmentation principles and OT/ICS protocols (Modbus, BACnet).
- Experience writing SOPs, runbooks, and change management documentation.
- Familiarity with OT cybersecurity concepts such as vulnerability management and network visibility tools.
- Experience with PLC/HMI platforms such as Rockwell and Schneider Electric.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting network devices from Cisco, Juniper, or Arista.
Compensation range: $140,400 – $156,000 per year DOE.
