The Custodial Technician (CT) is responsible for the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the Loudoun Homeless Shelter Center (LHSC) shelter facility, its equipment, and campus. The CT will serve as the point of contact for all maintenance contractors and vendors providing linen and supplemental services such as pest control. The CT will keep a maintenance log and work closely with Loudoun County Facilities Maintenance Division who regularly services the facility.
Responsibilities- Perform daily cleaning of the entire shelter facility, including removal of trash, participant belongings, sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting all bathrooms, laundry rooms, dorm rooms, offices, and kitchen.
- Restock all supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, garbage liners, air freshener, and hand soap.
- Care for all cleaning equipment, washing mop heads and removing dust and debris.
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of the Hypothermia Program, including cot setup, storage organization, and assistance as needed.
- Serve as the point of contact for contractors and vendors related to facilities management.
- Perform ground maintenance such as picking up trash, cleaning receptacles, removing debris, and weed pulling.
- Assist in repair and installation of shelter furnishings and equipment as requested, maintaining a working knowledge of appliances and equipment.
- Monitor LHSC maintenance concerns and report to the Assistant Director of Shelter Operations on any requests that need to be submitted through the county-operated Sprocket.
- Support front desk Residential Coordinators when needed to answer phones, assist clients, and drive vans.
- Assist the Assistant Director in ensuring the facility’s inclement weather and emergency response plan is current, including tracking fire drills.
- Proficiently utilize Microsoft email, calendar, share drive, docs, shift log, etc.
- Safely operate Shelter House vehicles.

- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.
- Preferred: 1+ year of custodial experience.
- Annual TB test is required.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift items weighing 10-20 pounds.
