the natural resources division in the department of building and development is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated professional to serve as the stormwater team leader under the county's virginia erosion and stormwater management program (vesmp). As a key member of the program's leadership team, this individual will support the program manager and take a lead role in overseeing day-to-day operations related to stormwater management plan review, vesmp permitting and inspections during construction.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and effective collaboration and problem-solving skills.

this position requires a thorough knowledge of state and county stormwater management requirements, and the ability to apply complex technical requirements in a practical and consistent manner to ensure compliance across a variety of circumstances, and strategic thinking skills to resolve challenges effectively and efficiently. This position also requires the ability to foster a supportive, collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

this position is responsible for the following:

• managing the county's vesmp stormwater team to ensure compliance of development projects with state and local regulations, which includes oversight of stormwater plan review, vesmp permitting, and inspection of stormwater best management practices (bmps) during construction to ensure consistent application of requirements.
• being a mentor and supervisor to team members, fostering professional development through training, guidance, and support.
