Service Manager

Our client, an established heavy equipment dealership is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead and oversee service department operations at one of their branch locations in Southeast Virginia
. This role is responsible for driving profitability, operational efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction within the service department.

The Service Manager will lead shop and field service operations, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. This individual will manage team performance, maintain strong internal collaboration, and uphold compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

• Lead daily operations of the service department to ensure efficiency and profitability
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels based on business needs and market demand
• Monitor department performance against goals, budgets, and customer satisfaction metrics
• Ensure shop and field repairs are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule
• Conduct performance evaluations and support ongoing development of technicians and staff
• Review work-in-process for accuracy and operational effectiveness
• Manage departmental budgets, call reports, estimates, and forecasts
• Oversee compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
• Coordinate customer visits with sales and product support teams
• Maintain necessary shop tools, equipment, and facility standards
• Foster strong collaboration with parts, sales, and administrative departments

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred
• Previous leadership experience within a heavy equipment or related service department
• Strong understanding of maintenance, repair, parts operations, and customer support functions
• Proven ability to manage departmental budgets and performance metrics
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
