As a CNC Programmer/Machinist II in our R&D division, you’ll program, set up, and operate multi‑axis CNC machines to fabricate precision parts that directly impact patient outcomes.
- Program and operate CNC machines (including 4‑ and 5‑axis milling centers and multi‑axis lathes) using advanced G‑code and CAM software for complex geometries such as rotary and surfacing operations
- Interpret detailed mechanical blueprints and 3D CAD models to determine manufacturing specifications
- Perform occasional manual machining on mills and lathes, as well as benchtop assembly, custom fitting, and fabrication
- Build, repair, or fabricate parts from verbal instructions, blueprints, or working drawings using a variety of hand tools, electrical, and mechanical equipment
- Conduct in-process inspections using precision tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, optical comparators, gauges, etc.) to ensure parts meet strict tolerances
- Perform equipment maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and preventive tasks
- Provide constructive feedback to engineers on design for manufacturability (DFM) and collaborate with team members to meet project objectives
- Follow medical device manufacturing procedures, guidelines, and quality standards
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification, apprenticeship, or specialized training preferred
- 3‑5+ years of direct experience programming and operating CNC machines, including 4‑axis or higher machine centers
- Familiarity with CAM software (e.g., ESPRIT, Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar) (3‑5 years preferred)
- Knowledge of ISO standards and FDA requirements (preferred)
- Strong proficiency in programming complex parts using G‑code and CAM software
- Hands‑on experience with benchtop fabrication/assembly, precision inspection tools, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5 M‑1994)
- Proven expertise machining materials such as stainless steels, cobalt chrome, aluminum, and plastics
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes, geometric tolerancing, and ability to work independently while solving manufacturing challenges
- Good communication skills and general computer proficiency
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment (close vision, depth perception, and focus required)

Compensation:Pay for this role is competitive and based on experience, with additional factors like qualifications, location, and performance taken into account with potential for bonuses and incentives plus benefits. Final compensation is determined on a case‑by‑case basis and considers a variety of factors including experience level, skillset, and market conditions.
