Job Description
The Assistant General Manager will oversee all aspects of store operations, focusing on profitability, customer service, and staff performance.
Primary Responsibilities- Review and analyze Profit & Loss statements to assess financial performance.
- Provide GAS3 selling experience to DIY and DIFM customers.
- Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives.
- Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, and related tasks.
- Ensure high standards of customer service, promptly handling product and operational complaints.
- Perform manager‑on‑duty responsibilities: coaching, floor and phone management, task assignment and completion, safety oversight, and open/close duties.
- Execute weekly scheduling process.
- Friendly communication.
- Ability to locate and stock parts.
- Safety knowledge and skills.
- Parts and automotive system knowledge.
- ASE P2 certified or ASE‑ready equivalent.
- Execution and training of advanced solutions, projects, and product quality recommendations.
- Source parts from multiple suppliers.
- Training on store operational processes, testing, and diagnostic equipment for DIY services.
- Training on inventory systems and store equipment.
- Training on POS and Parts lookup systems.
Job Skills
- Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred.
- Proficient English communication;
Spanish a plus. - Effective use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel required; PowerPoint preferred).
- Ability to calculate discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent.
- Analyze business reports such as P&L.
- Hold staff accountable, inspect work quality, and give inspiring feedback.
- Work assorted days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
2‑3 years of managing a team of 10–20 members in a fast‑paced retail environment with proven financial and business acumen.
EducationHigh school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
Preferred CredentialsASE certification preferred but not required.
Physical DemandsThe job requires walking, standing, speaking, hearing, hand use, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Visual requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work EnvironmentPrimarily indoor work with occasional outdoor exposure to weather, moving mechanical parts, high locations, chemicals, electrical shock, vibration, and moderate noise.
Position is eligible for sales commission based on individual or store performance.
