Part Time Deli Bakery Clerk

Job Overview

This is a part‑time position. Primary responsibility is to take excellent care of our customers by satisfying each customer’s needs and exceeding expectations. This requires a defined level of product knowledge, food preparation skills, sales ability, customer relations skills, and cooperation with fellow associates to create an incredible place to work and shop.

Responsible for preparing, processing, packaging, and stocking products according to Fresh Foods Standards. Also responsible for providing customer service, cleaning work areas, unloading stock, and reloading salvage products according to Fresh Foods Standards.

  Exceptional interpersonal skills. Willingness to participate in required training and work with the team to increase customer satisfaction and sales.
• Education and/or
  
  Experience:
  
  High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Language
  
  Skills:
  
  Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple English instructions and correspondence. Ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates who speak only English.
• Mathematical
  
  Skills:
  
  Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and perform operations with U.S. currency and weight measurements.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Complete company training including, but not limited to, new‑hire orientation, food sanitation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and product knowledge.

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, reach, talk, hear, taste, or smell; occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds (occasionally up to 50 pounds) and reach from 6–72 inches.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color, and depth perception.

Pay range: $14.50–$22.50 per hour for newly hired associates, depending on experience and skill set.

Eligible for Harris Teeter’s group benefit plans after applicable waiting periods. Eligibility subject to plan terms and company policy.
