Linux System Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly qualified Linux Engineer for a full time/direct hire position, onsite in Leesburg, VA.

* Must be clearable to a Top Secret SCI Clearance

* Not available to candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the U.S.

Interview process:
Tech screen via MS Teams; one in-person interview in Leesburg

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and enhance Linux-based systems in a production environment
• Troubleshoot complex issues across OS, storage, authentication, and system performance layers
• Diagnose and resolve boot issues, file system problems, and system-level failures
• Manage and support LDAP-based authentication systems (SSSD/PAM)
• Design and build integrations between internal systems, tools, and services
• Develop scripts and lightweight tooling to automate workflows and connect infrastructure components
• Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows (Git Lab or similar)
• Reduce manual operational tasks through automation and process improvement
• Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to ensure reliable, scalable system operations

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Linux administration and systems engineering
• Boot processes
• File systems
• System performance and stability
• Experience with LDAP and authentication systems
• Strong scripting skills (Python, Perl, Bash) with demonstrated use in automation and system integration
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Git Lab preferred; Jenkins or similar acceptable)
• Experience with Git/version control workflows
• Ability to integrate disparate tools and systems into cohesive solutions
