Lehi City Parks Department is currently seeking applicants for a paid internship position. The Parks Department Intern will support the administrative, planning, and research functions of the Parks Planning Division. This position provides an opportunity to learn about municipal parks planning, budgeting, capital projects, public communication, and network with parks planning, development, and design professionals. The intern will assist with data management, document preparation, and special projects that help guide the department's work.
The internship position is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are currently working on a related degree, or others with related experience. Duration of the internship would be until approximately end of Spring of 2026. The minimum time commitment is 10-15 hours per week, but around 20 hours per week is preferred.
Essential Functions:- Provides support to the Parks Staff.
- Conduct research and compile data for park planning, policy development, and grant applications.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and project documentation for department staff and City leadership.
- Organize and maintain electronic files, maps, and records related to park assets and projects.
- Help track capital improvement projects, budgets, and timelines.
- Support public outreach by preparing informational materials, graphics, and website updates.
- Assist in analyzing survey results, usage data, and other performance metrics.
- Provide general administrative support, such as data entry, meeting coordination, and note-taking.
- Assists at community meetings.
- Conducts basic Parks Department functions as needed such as data entry, file management, and customer service.
- Graduation from high school or currently enrolled in a relevant degree program.
- Competency in various computer software programs, such as Microsoft Office and internet applications (familiarity of GIS or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus but not required).
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Motivated self-starter able to work independently with little direction.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Flexibility and desire to work on varying planning projects.
- Communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing.
- Interest in parks planning, community development, and local government operations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, other agencies, and the public.
