Inventory Management Specialist

Responsibilities

• Works with customers to identify needs, solve or coordinate timely resolution of customer orders/support problems, and act as a customer advocate and liaison.
• Monitors back‑order status reports and resolves, or assists in resolving, problem actions that do not meet customer requirements.
• Investigates, coordinates, and releases Sales Orders that inhibit flow through automated systems.
• Applies DLA expedite policy and other operating procedures to expedite actions within supply chains.
• Coordinates research and tracking of Stock Transfer Order actions to facilitate resolution of backorders or expedite delinquent contracts using established policies and guidance.
• Coordinates with appropriate service representatives to identify alternative sources of supply, respond to customer requests, and provide advice regarding changes to sales orders as needed.
• Collects, evaluates, and summarizes performance data pertaining to specific agency program goals and objectives and those of customers; leads meetings to communicate ideas and solicit feedback toward improving business and customer support operations.
• Prepares briefing materials including background information, recommendations, statistical data, charts and graphs; writes detailed reports concerning the status of assignments and issues identified in the course of performing the work.

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Tour of Duty:
  Set Schedule, Monday through Friday 0700‑1530.
• Security Requirements:
  Non‑Critical Sensitive.
• Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination; unfavorable adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.

• Defense Acquisition Workforce position:
  Must complete DoD certification and other requirements.

• One year of specialized experience in inventory management, supply chain, transportation programs, or related fields, with competencies to perform the duties of the position.
• Experience with managing back‑order status reports, coordinating customer actions, and resolving complex implementation issues across various levels.
• Experience with transportation programs, distribution center operations, automated systems, and regulations to meet urgent mission needs.
• Experience using marketing analysis and supplier capabilities to project and support customer requirements.
• Experience with retail and inventory management functions, material coordination, awaiting parts procedures, supporting repair programs, and local purchase/manufacture processes.

• Position requires DoD Acquisition Life Cycle Logistics (L) foundational certification within required time frames.
• Selectees must also achieve 80 hours of Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every two years.
