Job Summary
  • Construction Material and Methods (CMGT 1010) – This course will provide students with knowledge of building techniques and materials, including common construction materials, components, and systems related to wood frame structures, utilizing sustainable building practices. The construction process is analyzed from site planning to finish construction.
  • OSHA 30 for Construction (CMGT
    1130)
    – In-depth study of OSHA safety practices and its role in the construction industry. Review of workers safety procedures and practices used in the construction industry, with attendance required to be eligible for OSHA 30 completion card.
  • Construction Print Reading and Layout (CMGT 1450) – Study of print reading as it pertains to today’s high tech industry. Includes architectural symbols and terms, relationship of views, sections, electrical and mechanical systems and diagrams. Residential and commercial plans are examined, with discussion of electronic files such as PDF & DWG.
  • Construction Estimating (CMGT 2640) – Introduction to material take‑offs, labor cost estimate, equipment cost, price extensions and competitive bidding. Building systems are discussed and evaluated; formulas are input into software such as Microsoft Excel for computerized estimating & takeoffs.
  • Construction Systems and Standards (CMGT 2820) – Introduction to energy systems for commercial and residential construction, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, solar and alternative energy systems. Current Green Building Standards such as LEED and Energy Star are studied.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Effectively prepare and teach classes to facilitate student learning.
  • Assess student performance and maintain student records.
  • Develop, distribute, and adhere to current course outlines and/or syllabi.
  • Demonstrate and support professional commitment to Division, School, and College mission and values.
  • Maintain currency in the theory and practice of Construction Management and Sustainable Building.
  • Become familiar with, and abide by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization.
  • Maintain professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Provide appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.
  • Return graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.
  • Maintain student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.
  • Conduct a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance.
  • Inform students of progress‑to‑date periodically and assign and submit grades by published deadlines.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.
  • Prepare and submit incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy.
  • Maintain professional and collegial behavior.
  • Handle/respond to student concerns/complaints, and respond to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1‑2 days).
  • Maintain professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure.
  • Complete all required employee trainings.
  • Know and enforce FERPA guidelines.
  • Provide ADA accommodations as requested.
