Pay Grade / Salary:
Hourly Pay Rate $14.50 (FLSA)
Tutor WSU students in writing skills and provide support for student writing needs at the Davis Learning Center as part of the Learning Support department. Tutoring is done on an individual appointment and/or drop‑in basis. Availability for appointments is determined by the tutor. We require and provide training in tutoring techniques.
This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time the pool will expire and applicants will be notified.
Required Qualifications- Must be a WSU student in good academic standing.
- Faculty recommendation or endorsement.
- Strong writing proficiency.
- Writing sample (See instructions).
- A working knowledge of or interest in learning key writing concepts.
- Good listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to contribute beyond the basic tutoring requirements.
- Have completed ENGL 1010 & 2010 or equivalent.
- GPA 3.0 or higher.
Submit a writing sample. This should be a well‑written document that demonstrates your subject matter expertise, communication skills, and teaching philosophy. It should also represent a sample of your academic writing.
Physical RequirementsSedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Sitting most of the time. Walking and standing only occasionally.
