Instructional Paraprofessional

The job of Instructional Paraprofessional is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the resource classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; and providing clerical support to teachers and staff.

Essential Functions:

• Bus supervision after school
• Administers tests, homework, make-up work, etc.
• Assists data collection under the direction of the assigned teacher
• Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments
• Attends job specific trainings and meetings
• Communicates with supervising instructional staff, professional support personnel
• Demonstrates appropriate role modeling
• Implements, under the supervision of assigned teacher, behavioral plans identified in student IEPs
• Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records and classroom equipment, work area, etc.
• Monitors students during assigned periods in a variety of school environments
• Performs a variety of clerical duties
• Provides, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities
• Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students
• Supervises and escorts kids to/from classes

Requirements:

• Spanish-speaking preferred
• Age 16+
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must complete mandatory employee training within the first 3 months of employment
