To meet the needs of the Church, we seek to build teams that represent the diverse perspectives, broad life experiences and backgrounds of our global Church membership. With that in mind, we encourage all qualified applicants to apply.

Job Description

The Learning & Development Intern supports the design, delivery, and administration of training programs for the Family History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This role plays a key part in new hire onboarding and new manager development, while also supporting broader learning initiatives across the department.

Primary responsibilities include coordinating training logistics, managing training calendars, creating class invitations, tracking attendance and completion records, issuing certificates, and monitoring a shared training inbox. The intern will also create and distribute surveys, compile participant feedback, and help measure training effectiveness.

The intern will serve as a presenter or co-presenter for onboarding and other department-wide learning experiences. Opportunities may also arise to assist in the development of new training programs, facilitate focus groups, and contribute to Talent & Culture initiatives. Additionally, the intern will participate in supporting Roots Tech and other department events as assigned.

We are seeking an energetic, positive, and service-oriented individual who enjoys working with people and helping others learn. Previous teaching, training, facilitation, or public speaking experience is highly desirable. A second language and familiarity with virtual learning platforms are also beneficial.

This role regularly utilizes Microsoft 365 tools, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Forms, and Excel. While the position includes participation in several recurring team meetings, the successful candidate will be expected to independently manage responsibilities and facilitate training sessions with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

On a typical day, you may:

  • Respond to questions from new hires, managers, and course participants
  • Manage communications through a shared training email account
  • Coordinate and support onboarding and leadership development programs
  • Present or co-present onboarding and other learning sessions
  • Assist managers in navigating learning and development resources
  • Track training participation, completion, and feedback metrics
  • Facilitate focus groups and gather stakeholder input
  • Support additional Talent & Culture and Learning & Development projects

Interns are also encouraged to pursue professional development opportunities and are provided dedicated time to work on their own family history.

Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and public speaking abilities
  • Positive, engaging, and customer-focused demeanor
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Effective time management and prioritization
  • Experience using collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to build positive relationships with learners and stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of Excel and spreadsheet fundamentals
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft 365 tools
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and learner engagement strategies

Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation. They must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.

Work hours are generally flexible; however, attendance during scheduled training events is required. Some courses may occasionally be scheduled earlier or later to accommodate global participants in regions such as Europe and the Asia-Pacific area.

This position is based in Salt Lake City and/or Lehi and requires in-person attendance based on business needs.
