Job Summary
The Net Ops Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) ensures the availability, reliability, and performance of large-scale, carrier-grade network infrastructure. This role is deeply technical, requiring strong expertise in BGP routing, datacenter operations, and network deployment across Juniper and Arista platforms. The position also requires strong customer-facing skills, as the engineer may participate in troubleshooting calls with customers and collaborate closely with internal teams during high-impact incidents.
Whatyou will do Network Operations & Performance
- Monitor and maintain network infrastructure for performance, availability, and potential vulnerabilities.
- Ensure optimal traffic flow, throughput, and latency for customer-facing services.
- Operate within UNIX-based environments for system-level troubleshooting.
- Maintain a working understanding of DDoS protection concepts (no direct mitigation required).
- Engage directly with customers during troubleshooting calls to diagnose complex network issues.
- Provide clear, professional communication to customers and stakeholders during incidents and escalations.
- Collaborate with internal teams including NOC, engineering, security, and product teams.
- Maintain a strong customer-focused mindset when addressing issues.
- Stage, install, configure, and maintain routers and switches in production environments.
- Deploy and troubleshoot complex LAN/WAN network configurations.
- Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols with strong expertise in BGP.
- Support OSPF, static routing, and routing optimizations.
- Identify routing inefficiencies and implement improved configurations.
- Handle Tier-2 operational escalations and break/fix activities.
- Perform Layer 1 tasks including cable tracing, optical validation, and connectivity checks.
- Work with datacenter technicians for racking/stacking, cabling, and circuit turn-ups.
- Support patching, remote-hands tasks, inventory, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Juniper routing/switching platforms — required.
- Arista routing/switching platforms — required.
- Use Git and Ansible for network automation and orchestration.
- Develop scripts and tools;
Python experience is a plus.
- Provide Tier-2 support for critical incidents.
- Perform scheduled maintenance including hardware and software upgrades.
- Maintain documentation such as MOPs, network diagrams, and DR procedures.
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
- 2+ years of datacenter operations experience including cabling, power management, remote hands, inventory, vendor coordination, and equipment/circuit testing.
- 1+ years of experience with Ansible and Git for automation.
- 1+ years of experience with DDoS detection/analysis tools.
- Experience participating in customer troubleshooting calls.
- Background working in ISP or carrier-grade environments (required).
- OSPF, MPLS, DNS.
- LAN/WAN technologies.
- UNIX systems.
- Physical Layer 1 operations and datacenter coordination.
- Python scripting experience (preferred).
