POSITION SUMMARY

The Gun Vault Specialist is responsible for backroom maintenance of all processes pertaining to firearms. This role safely handles firearms and adheres to all company, state, and federal firearms regulations. Responsibilities include acquiring and disposing firearms, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance with ATF and state regulations. The position also provides counter sales and customer service for firearms and other hunting merchandise, greeting customers, handling merchandise with care, and providing information and assistance.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS
  • Physically receive and acquire incoming firearms using ARMS systems by close of business each day.
  • Verify gun accuracy and document manifests.
  • Dispose of firearms shipped or transferred to licensed dealers or stores, and verify disposition data from Electronic 4473 to ARMS.
  • Conduct monthly firearms audit.
  • Complete ATF required forms, state forms, and background checks to ensure legal transfer and compliance with waiting periods.
  • Participate in ongoing training on firearms, shooting product information, compliance, and sales techniques.
  • Safely acquire and dispose firearms, complete company forms, store and locate firearms, clean and prepare for retail sale, replenish the sales floor, package and ship firearms in compliance with laws, and mount accessories/optics.
  • Keep work area clean, neat, and stocked.
  • Support world‑class customer service by identifying customer needs, recommending products, and promoting programs such as CLUB membership and in‑store pickup.
  • Demonstrate product to customers.
  • Organize firearms within the store for sales at Gun Counter, Fine Gun Room/Gun Library, and Gun Vault.
  • Maintain visual standards, restock, re‑merchandise, clean fixtures, and perform opening and closing duties.
  • Set and maintain all ads related to firearms.
  • Stay knowledgeable of sales, maintain pricing and signage.
  • Replenish product on shelves per merchandising guidelines.
  • Assist with seasonal floor merchandise moves.
  • Respond to ATF or state firearm trace requests promptly.
  • Assist with training store outfitters as requested by GM or Ops Support Reg. Mgr.
  • Remain product “expert” through ongoing training.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Degree:
    High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience:

    2 to 4 years in retail.
  • Age:
    Must be 21 years or older.
  • Must be legally able to own and possess firearms under federal and state law.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
  • Understand, recall, and follow complex compliance regulations and handle confidential information.
  • Customer service and sales of firearms and other hunting merchandise.
  • Complete 4473 and state paperwork.
  • GCA proficiency.
  • Use ARMS for acquisitions and dispositions of firearms.
  • Knowledge of firearms, ammunition, ATF and state regulations.
  • Inventory control experience.
  • Safely handle firearms.
  • Understand retail and computer operations.
  • Manage and stock merchandise.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Regularly walks, stands, lifts up to 50 lbs, and/or performs computer work.
  • Seldom/never sits.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT

Performs duties within the scope of company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems, assesses needs, and uses judgment to adapt guidelines and make recommendations that affect policies and practices.
