Position: VP of Life & Wealth Distribution

Overview

The Vice President of Life, Annuity & Ancillary Distribution is responsible for developing, scaling, and leading the company’s independent agent distribution channel for life insurance, annuities, and ancillary products. This executive will recruit and develop independent agents and agencies, establish strategic carrier and distribution partnerships, create agent training and development programs, and drive revenue growth across all non‑Medicare product lines.

This role is responsible for building a scalable national distribution platform that enables agents to successfully market life insurance, annuities, hospital indemnity, cancer, critical illness, dental, vision, hearing, and other supplemental insurance products. The ideal candidate is a proven distribution leader with extensive experience recruiting and developing independent agents, growing agency relationships, and driving production across multiple insurance product lines.

Key Responsibilities – Distribution Growth & Strategy
  • Develop and execute the company’s national life, annuity, and ancillary distribution strategy.
  • Build scalable systems and processes to support rapid agent growth and production.
  • Identify new market opportunities, distribution channels, and strategic partnerships.
  • Establish annual growth plans, production targets, and expansion initiatives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on long‑term growth strategy and revenue forecasting.
Agent Recruitment & Development
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop independent insurance agents and agencies.
  • Build relationships with top‑producing agents, agency leaders, FMOs, IMOs, and distribution partners.
  • Develop recruiting programs that attract high‑quality producers.
  • Create agent retention and engagement initiatives.
  • Build a culture of accountability, production, and professional development.
Training & Sales Enablement
  • Design and implement comprehensive training programs for life insurance, annuity, and ancillary products.
  • Develop sales systems, scripts, presentations, and educational resources.
  • Coach agents on advanced sales strategies, needs‑based selling, and client relationship management.
  • Create cross‑selling programs that help Medicare agents successfully offer ancillary and life products.
  • Lead virtual and in‑person training events, workshops, and sales meetings.
Carrier & Product Management
  • Evaluate and manage carrier relationships.
  • Assist in carrier selection, product portfolio strategy, and commission optimization.
  • Monitor market trends and identify opportunities to expand product offerings.
  • Ensure agents have access to competitive products and sales tools.
  • Work closely with carrier partners to support agent success.
Production & Performance Management
  • Establish key performance metrics and accountability standards.
  • Monitor agent production, recruiting activity, and retention.
  • Implement performance improvement initiatives where needed.
  • Drive achievement of sales goals and profitability targets.
  • Provide regular reporting and forecasting to executive leadership.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure all distribution activities comply with state insurance regulations, carrier guidelines, and company policies.
  • Promote ethical sales practices and consumer‑focused solutions.
  • Partner with compliance and operations teams to maintain quality standards.
  • Support suitability requirements for annuity and advanced planning products.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in life insurance, annuity, or ancillary insurance distribution.
  • Proven success recruiting and developing independent insurance agents and agencies.
  • Strong understanding of life insurance, annuities, supplemental health products, and independent distribution models.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing agent networks and distribution channels.
  • Experience building and scaling sales organizations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Active insurance licensing or ability to obtain required licenses.
  • Existing network of independent agents, agencies, FMOs, or IMOs.
  • Experience developing cross‑selling programs within Medicare organizations.
  • Advanced knowledge of annuity products and retirement income planning.
