Basic Needs Specialist
Part‑time (20 hours per week), Monday through Friday, schedule to be determined.
Pay: $20.00 per hour.
Location:
2301 West Ashton Boulevard, Lehi, UT 84043, United States.
The Basic Needs Specialist manages the MTECH food pantry program and connects students to basic needs support. This role works collaboratively across multiple departments and community partners to improve access to services and increase student success and well‑being.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily food pantry operations, including inventory tracking, compliance with food bank requirements, and coordination with community partners.
- Support the expansion of food distribution services to additional campuses by coordinating logistics, schedules, and partner engagement.
- Maintain and update a comprehensive inventory of student basic needs resources (food, housing, healthcare, mental health, and financial assistance services).
- Develop and manage an accessible digital resource hub for students and staff.
- Assist students with SNAP and WIC application processes and coordinate on‑campus enrollment and outreach events.
- Collaborate with campus departments and community organizations to facilitate referrals and connect students with appropriate support services.
- Plan and execute resource fairs, food distributions, and other student support events.
- Collect, track, and analyze program data, including pantry usage, event participation, and student feedback, to support grant reporting and program evaluation.
- Participate in community coalitions and partnership meetings to strengthen resource networks and stay informed of available services.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports to meet grant, institutional, and compliance requirements.
- Associate’s degree in social work, public health, human services, education, or related field; or high school diploma with equivalent experience.
- Experience working with food assistance programs, community resources, or student support services preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations demonstrating cultural competence and inclusivity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides). Experience with student data systems is a plus.
- Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and build collaborative relationships across departments.
- Ability to lift and transport food pantry supplies and event materials as needed.
- Willingness to travel between MTECH campuses; mileage reimbursement provided per institutional policy.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings to meet the needs of students and programs.
