Position Overview

The Distributor Driver drives a distributor truck with a 3,000‑gallon capacity to transport emulsion to and from specified destinations and apply asphalt/tack on highway, roadways, parking lots, and driveways. During the off‑season the driver will operate a truck, pup, transfer, or belt trailer. This is a skilled position that requires safe and efficient operation of equipment and trucks, performed per the supervisor’s instruction.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)
  • Operate asphalt distributor truck.
  • During the off season drive a truck and pup, transfer, or belt trailer.
  • Set spray bar on manual, automatic, or semi‑automatic distributors for applying liquid asphalt.
  • Apply liquid from distributor to designated area with attention to detail and emphasis on craftsmanship.
  • Connect and disconnect pup trailer.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the proper tools and equipment for the task.
  • Properly follow all company policies, FMCSA regulations, and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew can operate at normal efficiency levels.
  • Maintain a courteous and professional manner with co‑workers, customers and public.
  • Perform manual labor as needed.
  • Oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
  • Assist with other positions for job completion as needed.
  • Adapt to last‑minute schedule changes, location changes, and shift changes. Overtime work required.
  • Adhere to PPE policy and maintain individual PPE in functional condition as supplied by company.
  • Adapt and work in extreme weather temperatures. May be exposed to extremes of heat or cold weather.
Qualifications

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, License, Registrations
  • Must possess a valid state commercial driver’s license (CDL) Class A with Tanker Endorsement.
  • Must possess a valid Medical Card as per DOT standard.
Work Requirements
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Incident‑free driving record preferred.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol, medical exams, and physical agility testing.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Ability to communicate using two‑way radio.
  • Basic math.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
