Retail Store Management Trainee

Overview

Store Manager Trainee – $19.50 to $27.00 per hour (base pay). This role is designed for external retail assistant managers and store managers who want to fast‑track into a Store Management position. A minimum of one year of retail management experience is required.

• Facilitate a customer‑centric environment by engaging customers and resolving issues promptly.
• Assist in the training of pawnbrokers to meet First Cash standards.
• Recruit top talent through designated channels.
• Open and close the store, including cash drawer and merchandise counts, ensuring all procedures are followed.
• Implement asset protection through inventory control, property safety, documentation, and securing customer loans.
• Administer store processes: inventory, loan management, merchandising, presentation, store systems, and enterprise reporting.
• Analyze financial statements and drive profitability through communication and goal‑setting.
• Ensure operating standards meet or exceed First Cash benchmarks.
• Monitor loan qualification and buying processes to maintain loan value and integrity.
• Complete assigned self‑development tasks and training.
• Communicate clearly with employees about the store’s mission and profit objectives.
• Maintain up‑to‑date product knowledge.
• Act as manager on duty in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Minimum of one year of retail management experience (or six months for Store Manager Trainee).
• Physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and perform tasks such as standing, stooping, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting for extended periods.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise others.
• Ability to work with firearms and obtain firearms certification if required.
• Flexibility to work a retail schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Willingness to work 45+ hours per week; hours are based on business needs and are not guaranteed.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with POS systems and common office machines.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills.
• Cash handling experience is required.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent work ethic and strong business sense.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum age: 18 years.

Store Manager Trainees have the potential to earn 2–8% commission based on performance, plus an additional bonus tied to store results. Details are provided during the interview process.
