Here at Pick Everard, we are passionate about creating a prosperous and sustainable future, taking a fresh perspective on the built environment. Our core values of professionalism, compassion, drive and positivity are at the heart of everything we do.

Would you like to join a historic company with a 160 year history of working on some of the most iconic public sector developments in the UK? Would you like all the benefits and security of a large consultancy whilst working in a small but growing ecology team?

If you answered yes to the above questions, we want to hear from you!

We are looking to appoint a Senior Ecologist to join our team. The successful candidate can be based at any of our offices across the UK, however, being located in the Midlands would be advantageous. The ability to travel for site visits is essential.

You will complete Statutory Biodiversity Metric baseline calculations and collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to integrate ecological constraints and opportunities into project designs. You will also design Biodiversity Net Gain (or regional equivalent) solutions and prepare high-quality technical reports to support project delivery.

While the role can be adapted to suit your career interests and aspirations, a key aspect of the position is your willingness to undertake fieldwork and your ability to confidently and independently design and complete baseline ecological assessments as a minimum.

Your core responsibilities
  • Organising and leading on field surveys and monitoring survey progress.
  • Undertaking analysis and reviewing ecological data for accuracy and quality.
  • Producing ecological reports, including specific assessments and management plans.
  • Organising and supporting in Ecological Clerk of Works roles.

  • Preparing work and fee proposals and contributing to project bidding.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and stakeholders on technical strategy and advice.
  • Understanding Health and Safety issues relevant to surveying and report any hazards onsite and supporting in preparing risk avoiding measures.
