Construction Multi-trades Tutor – Leicestershire
Term Time Only – working 41 weeks per annum, 11 weeks holiday, permanent. Salary: £27,500 rising to £30,000 after probation, with a 5 % annual increase.
If you have broad based construction skills, have had the thought of using your knowledge to work with young people to provide them with practical multi-trades skills, or you are a capable DIY enthusiast with experience working with young people and perhaps currently working as a Tutor – this role is for you.
The Role- Give practical demonstrations on various basic construction skills – bricklaying, carpentry, painting and decorating.
- Work with a classroom of no more than seven young people.
- Provide young people with tasters of basic level construction skills that will help them secure construction apprenticeships or further training.
- Act as a gateway to a career in one of the construction trades.
- Conduct training in purpose-built, well-equipped workshops in the East Midlands.
- Deliver 90 % practical training, as this is the most effective learning style for young people.
- Work Monday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – classes run 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., leaving ample time for administrative duties.
- Receive a 5 % annual salary increase.
You will be working with a training provider that has many years of experience delivering basic construction skills to school children, opening the door to apprenticeships and jobs in construction. With over ten years of experience, they boast an impressive track record of successfully guiding young people onto construction apprenticeship routes. As a small, dedicated provider, you will be mentored and supported throughout your journey to becoming a fully fledged tutor, should you not yet possess formal teaching qualifications.
You will also have the opportunity to study for training qualifications, which will enhance your personal development and career prospects.
- Experience with in any construction trades – carpentry, joinery, bricklaying, plastering, painting, tiling, etc.
- Previous experience working with young people – e.g., supervising apprentices, leading activity groups, being a sports coach, foster carer, or volunteering with cubs/beavers.
- Good, clear communication skills; able to give clear instructions and possess a good command of the English language both written and verbal.
- A desire to work with young people and share your knowledge to help set them up for the future.
