Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division – a new era of mobile repair.

• Competitive base salary of £40,178 with on‑target earnings up to £52,000

• 40 hours per week, core hours 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with 1 in 4 Saturdays

You’ll be part of the Leicester cluster, covering areas like Leicester, Oadby, Wigston, Hinckley, Melton Mowbray, Market Harborough and Loughborough. You’ll be out on the road in your local area, working through a clearly planned schedule of appointments – no reactive callouts, just organised, pre‑booked work where you can focus on doing the job properly.

Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre‑booked, with the member expecting you.

• Routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In‑depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics. Use your technical skill and problem‑solving ability to get people moving again – safely, quickly and confidently.

It’s the ideal role for techs who want variety and independence without the reactive nature of Patrol.

• Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

• Earnings That Motivate – market‑competitive base salary of £40,170, with opportunity to increase up to £52,000 through bonuses and premium‑rate overtime. Full‑time 40‑hour week, Monday–Saturday availability (8 am–8 pm) offers flexibility and stability
• Opt‑in Guaranteed Overtime – after your first month, choose to work extra rest days at £30 per hour. One extra day a month could earn £3,000 more per year on top of your base salary. Two extra days could give an extra £5,000.
