Our client is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join their engineering team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of production and site assets, ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires a strong electrical and controls bias, combined with competent mechanical maintenance skills, and offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of automated production equipment and site services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities across manufacturing and production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, controls, automation, and mechanical faults.
  • Fault find using PLCs, HMIs, electrical testing equipment, instrumentation, and diagnostic tools.
  • Work on motors, drives, sensors, encoders, safety circuits, control systems, and automation equipment.
  • Support machinery upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance including bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes, couplings, alignment, and guarding.
  • Complete inspections, testing, calibration checks, and safety verifications.
  • Support site utilities and facilities maintenance including compressors, boilers, chillers, fire systems, and associated infrastructure.
  • Assist with equipment commissioning, installation projects, and machine improvements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring faults and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records through a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Participate in shift handovers and communicate effectively with production and engineering teams.
Electrical & Controls Experience Required
  • Strong electrical fault-finding experience gained within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery and automation systems.
  • Understanding of Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar PLC platforms.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience diagnosing faults on drives, sensors, encoders, safety circuits, motor control systems, and control panels.
  • Competent using test equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, and clamp meters.
  • Strong understanding of safe isolation procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work systems.

  • Maintain compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the site.
Qualifications Essential
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong industrial electrical maintenance experience.
Desirable
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • PLC training or certification.
  • IOSH qualification.
  • Hydraulics, pneumatics, or instrumentation training.
