Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Multiskilled Engineer role based in Leicester. The Multiskilled Engineer will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on refrigeration, air conditioning, and associated plant and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Day-to-day tasks include fault finding, diagnostics, and repair, as well as performing mechanical and electrical tasks such as installation, testing, adjustment, and component replacement.

The role involves working with refrigerants in line with environmental and safety regulations, completing maintenance records and reports, and communicating effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments. The engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, support equipment upgrades, and assist with ensuring compliance with company standards and relevant legislation.

Qualifications

  • Technical skills in mechanical and electrical engineering, ideally including experience with refrigeration, air conditioning systems, and related plant.
  • Proficiency in fault finding, diagnostics, and maintenance, with the ability to work safely and efficiently under minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety, environmental, and industry regulations, including best practices for handling refrigerants and working with pressurized systems.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing operational needs.
  • Relevant vocational or academic qualifications in engineering (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent), and recognized trade apprenticeship or similar experience.
  • Comfort using maintenance documentation and basic digital tools (e.g., CMMS, email, office software) to record work and support reporting.
  • Previous experience in industrial, manufacturing, or building services environments is beneficial; experience specifically in refrigeration and a/c is an advantage.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing training and development, including staying current with new low-GWP technologies and sustainability initiatives.
