VGC Group are currently recruiting for a Telehandler & Slinger Signaller to join our team on a major project in Leiston, Suffolk.

A Telehandler / Slinger is responsible for safely operating a telescopic handler (telehandler) and directing lifting operations on construction or industrial sites. The role combines machine operation with signalling duties to guide lifting equipment and ensure loads are moved securely and efficiently. Reporting to the Senior Plant Manager.

Basic pay rate: £19.10 per hour PAYE
Shift- 12 days on, 2 days off. 12 hour days

Start Date:

ASAP, subject to gaining vetting

Lodge pay is available for the successful candidate, if they meet the criteria.

Qualifications/Experience
  • Valid Telehandler (e.g., CPCS or NPORS) certification
  • Valid Slinger/Signaller certification (CPCS/NPORS)
  • Previous experience in construction or industrial environments
  • Knowledge of lifting regulations (e.g., LOLER, PUWER)
  • CSCS card
Key Responsibilities
  • Telehandler Operation:
  • Operate a telescopic forklift (telehandler) to lift, move, and place materials.
  • Transport loads across the site safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections and basic maintenance checks on equipment.
  • Ensure loads are secure, balanced, and within safe working limits.
  • Work in line with site risk assessments and lifting plans.
  • Slinger / Signaller Duties:
  • Attach and secure loads using appropriate lifting accessories (chains, slings, shackles).
  • Direct crane or lifting machine operators using recognised hand and radio signals.
  • Ensure lifting operations are carried out safely and in accordance with regulations.
  • Communicate clearly with crane operators and site personnel.
  • Assess load stability and weight before lifting.
