Telehandler & Slinger Signaller

Job Overview

VGC Group is recruiting a Telehandler & Slinger Signaller for a major project in Leiston, Suffolk. The role combines safe operation of a telescopic handler with duty as a slinger/signaller to guide lifting equipment. The position reports to the Senior Plant Manager.

Basic pay: £19.10 per hour PAYE.

Shift: 12 days on, 2 days off; 12‑hour days.

Start date:

ASAP, subject to vetting. Lodge pay available for the successful candidate.

• Valid Telehandler certification (e.g., CPCS or NPORS)
• Valid Slinger/Signaller certification (CPCS/NPORS)
• Previous experience in construction or industrial environments
• Knowledge of lifting regulations (LOLER, PUWER)
• CSCS card

• Operate a telescopic forklift to lift, move and place materials.
• Transport loads across the site safely and efficiently.
• Conduct pre‑use inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Ensure loads are secure, balanced, and within safe limits.
• Work in line with site risk assessments and lifting plans.
• Attach and secure loads using appropriate accessories (chains, slings, shackles).
• Direct crane or lifting machine operators using recognised hand and radio signals.
• Communicate clearly with crane operators and site personnel.
• Assess load stability and weight before lifting.

• Ability to interpret lifting plans and risk assessments
• Calm and decisive under pressure
