Job Description – Fulfillment of Mission
We are seeking outstanding applicants to consider for an Academic Coach (Grades 4-8 ELA/Latin/History) for the school year. This position serves Classical Charter Schools of Southport and Wilmington. This position is open to internal applicants only. Applicants should be flexible, data driven, adept at classroom management techniques, and can demonstrate success in building rapport with a diverse population of students, teachers and administration.

– Job Responsibilities
- Ensure teachers are capable of achieving the learning goals and instructional methods for each grade level in the subject area(s) of responsibility.
- See that assessments, benchmarking, and pacing guides for use throughout the year by teachers for tracking student progress are being correctly followed.
- Gather observational measurement criteria in helping teachers improve their delivery and instructional effectiveness with the subject curriculum.
- Deliver training sessions for Teachers and Assistant Teachers on how to effectively deliver the curriculum so that every student learns.
- Supervise Coaches-in-Training.
- Support the Dean to continually improve the curriculum and its delivery techniques, training and support materials.
Travel between different campus locations, communicate with the Dean and leadership at each school, assist with the acquisition of materials for each campus needed for student and teacher success. Assist the Deans to disseminate information and work closely with administration to be sure all components of the organization are working cooperatively and attaining the Mission in classrooms.
The Academic Coach reports to the respective Dean(s). The position of Coach is an 11-month RBA position and follows the RBA calendar.
Qualifications- Extensive academic background in their content area or responsibility. A Master’s degree or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
- Extensive classroom experience in the grades for which they are responsible.
- Achieved passing scores on the tests specified by RBA for their subject specialty.
- Coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis, Probability and Statistics, and in the subject specialty departments are highly desirable and will command a salary increment commensurate with the additional work.
- Physical ability to lift/carry 20 lbs and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
