JOB SUMMARY

Performs nursing duties as they pertain to clinic nursing. Performs routine medical procedures and tests in conjunction with patient visits and assists the Provider as necessary.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS AND TRAINING REQUIRED

Must be a graduate of a one-year accredited school of nursing (LPN). Must hold a current and valid North Carolina License as LPN. Maintains current BLS certification. Required to demonstrate competency in the performance of duties specific to infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Preferred: ACLS certification.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

One year of experience as LPN. One year experience in a clinic setting preferred. Should be proficient in clinic practice within one month of employment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Works in light and temperature controlled environment.

WORK AIDS

Equipment required by the practice; includes: IVAC/glass thermometer, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, weight scales, ACCU-CHEK blood glucose monitor, testpack Strep A, testpack HCG urine, centrifuge, autoclave, 02 canister, otoscope, Morgan lens, Ambu bags (adult and child) urinary catheters, abbocaths, IV fluids and tubing, tubex, Grafco eye chart, suture removal tray, skin staple remover, emergency cart and drug box, computer and printer, EKG machine, pulse oximeter.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Model CRHS core values of caring, commitment, integrity and teamwork to internal and external customers (i.e. patient, family, Provider).

Perform initial triage and prepare patient for examination.

Obtain lab specimens, give injections and perform routine medical tests following established procedures.

Provide patient education.

Set up room and equipment for procedures, operates and maintains equipment; sterilizing equipment and cleaning area as needed.

Document nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments and other care given.

Maintain inventory of supplies, medications and pharmaceuticals and place special orders.

Maintain skill competency

Remain capable of communicating and demonstrating all skills required for the position.
Remain knowledgeable of the continuing education required for nursing license renewal and take responsibility for meeting at least the minimum required.
Maintain AHA certification: BLS.
Complete computer‑based learning modules timely.
Continuing education should include at least 3 hours of orthopedic specific education annually.

Participate in quality assurance programs, attend safety and staff meetings and in‑services.

Arrange for or conduct in‑services education for staff on clinical issues.

Perform other duties as assigned.
