Talent Manager, Employee Relations
Our Human Resource Services (HRS) division at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a Senior Employee Relations Specialist to join their team. This position is integral to Argonne’s efforts to ensure a just and fair organizational culture through effective development and application of policies, procedures, communication and guidance to the Argonne community.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Work with the Employee Relations (ER) and Human Resource Services and broader laboratory to deliver labor relations services.
- Conduct investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination and/or retaliation.
- Facilitate the interactive process in ADA requests for reasonable accommodations
- Provide advice and guidance to line management on employee relations related issues including, but not limited to potential misconduct, discipline, corrective action, performance management, reorganizations or workforce restructuring actions.
- Provide training to managers and employees on employee/labor relations issues and assist with labor issues related to collective bargaining agreements and union grievances.
- Follow leading practices to conduct sound, balanced and thorough investigations in response to issues raised by employees.
- Partner with HRS team and management to ensure employee/labor relations strategies are applied consistently.
- Assist with development and implementation in training/learning initiatives, review and update policies, processes, and reporting systems.
- Develop and recommend solutions consistent with the Laboratory’s mission and Core Values.
- In addition, responsible for working with other HRS functions, including providing advice, recommendations, and support related to activities such as talent acquisition, compensation, and performance evaluations.
- This is a hybrid role, with regular on-site presence required, corresponding to the operational needs of the function.

Position Requirements
- Effective collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
- Experience in conducting workplace investigations, including witness interviews and researching and analyzing relevant facts, and preparing reports, findings and recommendations.
- Experience with collective bargaining agreements and interacting with union groups.
- Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with laboratory staff at all levels.
- Experience managing and resolving conflicts, complaints and concerns in a fair and consistent manner.
- Knowledge of EEO and anti-discrimination laws.
- Knowledge and experience of workforce restructuring and reduction in force actions.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality and professionalism.

- To perform the essential functions of this position successful applicants must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, which is required to comply with federal regulations and contract.
