Compensation: 115-125k annual
The Director of Inventory Control is responsible for managing the daily operations of inventory control across multiple facilities and ensuring that adequate inventory of products and services is maintained in accordance with inventory cycles and organizational philosophy. This position conducts daily inventory analysis to solve inventory problems and implements inventory control procedures. It coordinates and manages daily physical counts with training and management of the team.
It reports to the Vice President of Inventory Control.
- Manage and maintain physical inventory of external customers.
- Timely communication with customer representatives regarding inventory issues, including the existence, cause, and resolution of inventory variances.
- Professionally represent the Inventory Control Group in discussions with customers and executive leadership.
- Implement and maintain policies and procedures related to inventory control, ensuring the accuracy of warehouse inventory and analysis of product flow.
- Ensure the division follows government regulations (FDA & AIB) and compliance.
- Maintain AIB policy and procedures.
- Perform all recall and quality holds for operation – assign and release holds based on feedback from QA or QRC.
- Responsible for employee development through training on policy and procedures.
- Create a cohesive organization by keeping lines of communication open.
- Set up warehouses; pick fronts, storage, allocations, chaining, etc.
- Recognize signs of operational problems and provide detailed action steps required to correct them.
- Develop and consistently execute the cycle count program to ensure inventory and location accuracy, including aisle audits, empty slot reports, and special counts for high value items.
- Labor Planning.
- Communicate inventory issues with the Operations Manager, Shift Managers, and Shift Supervisors.
- Respond to special project requests from clients.
- Generate and distribute weekly reports summarizing inventory accuracy through cycle counts.
- Manage Peco & Chep pallet usage.
- Manage a staff of employees.
- Directly supervise 2 to 4 direct reports.
- Hire, train, coach, and mentor staff; hold all warehouse staff accountable.
- Lead or support IT modification projects.
- Maintain an organized, neat, and orderly operation related to inventory control.
- Ensure project and client KPIs are met or exceeded.
- Require knowledge of reporting requirements related to co‑pack.
- Possess strong communication, problem resolution, and people skills.
- 5-10 years of Warehouse Management experience.
- 3PL experience a plus.
- Synapse WMS experience a plus.
- Ability to report/track trending and historical data.
- Strong business writing and case analysis skills.
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office Excel proficiency.
- Experience in warehouse safety and safety training.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
- Regularly work in an indoor/office environment and be required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
- Frequently required to talk, hear, stand, and walk.
- Work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
- Handle stressful situations, maintain accuracy, and concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
