Job Purpose

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers concerned with inventorying materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts in a stockroom, warehouse, or yard.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors.
  • Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non‑usable, slow moving, and excess stock.
  • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures to determine adequacy of stock levels.
  • Schedules work for special and periodic inventories.
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of Inventory Specialists.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions.
  • Issues written/oral instructions and expedites workflow with team members.
  • Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Oversees inbound associates in their daily tasks and job responsibilities.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and pallets.
  • Responsible for payroll validations for all respective IC and inbound associates.
  • Utilize computer terminal to properly account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in Inventory Control.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience operating a forklift and cherry picker/high lift.
  • Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Inventory Control practices; KPI reporting, coordinating cycle‑count programs, product rotation.
  • PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Access Database.
Education and Experience Required
  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks and pallets.
