Position Overview
Flight Instructor Manager – Training Operations at NAS Lemoore. Leads the team of Flight Instructors, collaborates with other sections of Training Operations to facilitate effective F‑35 pilot training. Responsibilities include academic instruction using Electronic Mediated Lecture (EML) and/or Interactive Courseware (ICW), instructor flight procedures in Pilot Training Devices, using Full Mission Simulators (FMS) and Instructor Operating Stations (IOS), and serving as a Subject Matter Expert for courseware updates.
Works closely with colleagues to achieve F‑35 training objectives and implement Lockheed Martin initiatives, programs, and policies.
- Lead and manage Flight Instructors in Training Operations.
- Provide academic instruction using EML and/or ICW.
- Instruct flight procedures in Pilot Training Devices following approved syllabus.
- Utilize Full Mission Simulators for realistic and immersive training.
- Operate Instructor Operating Stations.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert for pilot training courseware updates.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to achieve training objectives.
- Active secret clearance completed within last 5 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation.
- Ability to attain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, excellent leadership traits, strong oral & written communication, organizational ability, and customer satisfaction orientation.
- Demonstrated leadership and extensive professional experience managing operations personnel supporting mission readiness at dedicated training/operational installations.
- Proven leader with management style aligned to LM core values and Full Spectrum Leadership imperatives.
- Experience evaluating personnel performance and completing performance evaluations.
- Minimum 1,000 hours Fighter Flight Time in 4th/5th generation multi‑role fighter aircraft.
- Former Instructor Pilot (IP) experience required.
- In‑depth knowledge of 4th/5th generation aircraft systems, advanced sensor systems (Night Vision, EO/IR targeting, Helmet Mounted Cueing, air‑to‑surface and air‑to‑air weapons inventory).
- Prior experience in delivering military pilot academics and simulator training; familiarity with current instructional techniques.
- Experience as a multi‑ship flight lead in tactical fighter aircraft.
- Experience with simulator devices and understanding of fighter tactics, techniques, and procedures.
- Collaborative experience with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
- Willingness to support flexible work hours to align with customer operational schedule.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Previous experience as an F‑35 Contractor Instructor Pilot (CIP) or F‑35 Pilot SME.
- Current F‑35 Program Special Access.
- F‑35 flight experience.
- Military Instructor Pilot in tactical fighter aircraft.
- F‑35 pilot training curriculum experience.
- F‑35 program requirements familiarity.
- F‑35 system knowledge.
- F‑35 Full Mission Simulator experience.
- F‑35 ALIS program familiarity.
- Graduate of formal military Academic Instructor Course (AIC).
- Formal Training Unit (FTU) or Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) Instructor Pilot experience.
- Fighter Weapons Instructor Course (FWIC) or Top Gun:
Weapons Tactics Instructor (WTI) graduate. - Standardization/Evaluation Flight Examiner (SEFE) or NATOPS Evaluator experience.
- Training management systems (TMS), learning management systems (LMS), and electronic grade books experience.
- Current USAF/USN/USMC IP with multi‑role fighter experience.
Secret clearance with Investigation or CV date within 5 years. Must be a U.S. citizen.
