Job Description and Duties
The Librarian will operate the prison library, selecting, cataloguing, loaning, and providing reference services for books, media, and legal materials. The librarian maintains order, supervises inmates accessing the library, and manages the Law Library Electronic Delivery System.
Responsibilities include:
- Select, catalog, and circulate library materials.
- Provide reference and informational services to inmates.
- Supervise and educate inmates on library use and policies.
- Maintain the loan system and order of the collection.
- Manage electronic legal content delivery.
- Completion of educational courses specified in the Class Specification.
- Ability to work with an incarcerated population.
- Eligibility for state service or completion of required eligibility training.
- Knowledge of library management and electronic delivery systems.
The position is located at California State Prison, Corcoran, CA. Work is performed behind prison walls. The facility is near Highway 43, 1 hour from Lemoore Naval Air Station, and 2 hours from Yosemite National Park.
Special RequirementsThe position requires completion of certain educational courses as specified in the Class Specification.
