Job SummaryM1 is looking for an Aircraft Mechanic III to serve as a safe-for-fight qualified mechanic. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- The Aircraft Mechanic III applies technical knowledge to solve aircraft system problems by interpreting manufacturer's manuals or similar documents.
- Works as a safe-for-fight qualified mechanic.
- Required to maintain and service the F/A-18 aircraft systems/components as required and in accordance with applicable publications and governing instructions.
- Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
- Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
- Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required.
- Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike and possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
- Required to make entries in aircraft logs and records and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
- Applies technical knowledge of aircraft system principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mods, and recommends changes to installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
- Required to be qualified on and work with some ground support equipment, special calibration equipment, special tools and all related maintenance manuals, maintenance requirement cards, parts breakdown manuals, technical directives, diagrams, schematics, blueprints and drawings.
- Member will work on all aircraft systems, beyond the Aircraft Mechanic III field of expertise the member will work as a general Aircraft Mechanic III.
- Qualified safe-for-fight mechanic
- 5 years Aviation maintenance Experience with Supervisory skills.
- Must have completed CNATTU course C-555-0053
- High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Current valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Shift work is required.
- Must be physically able to perform all assigned duties and able to lift 50lbs.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- You may be required to qualify in additional certifications such as Low Power Engine Turn-Up Operator (LPT), High Power Engine Turn-Up Operator (HPT), Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR), and or Plane Captain.
- Must have ability to inspect and maintain all company and customer assets, including all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in accordance with applicable directives, and ensure that those assets are utilized in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
- Must have ability to participate in the investigation of any injury and/or the resolution of any problems in quality or performance that may hinder production or be detrimental to the program.
- Must participate in the training and qualification of new personnel.
- Must promote communication to enhance and encourage employee awareness of accident prevention, quality of work, and environmental compliance.
- Must promote positive communication with all site departments, company management, and customers to ensure the proper execution of our contract.
- Must participate in required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual training and ensure that it is documented in a timely manner.
- Complete initial attendance sheet daily, verifying your start time and proper accounting of all assigned PPE.
- Obtain/maintain security clearance, DOD CAC privileges, and Special Access Badge requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 US Government Clearance.
- Note:
US Citizenship is required to obtain a Tier 3 Clearance.
