Aircraft Mechanic I (Propulsion) responsible for organizational and basic level maintenance on aircraft propulsion systems.
Responsibilities- Service, repair, and overhaul aircraft engines and related systems or components to ensure airworthiness.
- Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft engines and related components.
- Read and interpret manufacturer's publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Assist in inspection of engines and engine components for fluid leaks, cracks, and other damage.
- Assist in troubleshooting, removal, replacement, and repair of aircraft engine system components.
- Maintain, test, service, inspect, replace or repair to specification all required systems.
- Operate ground support equipment, special calibration equipment, and special tools as necessary.
- Work on all aircraft systems beyond the field of expertise as a general Aircraft Mechanic I.
- Follow directions of higher graded workers.
- High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
- Minimum 3 years of Naval aircraft propulsion systems maintenance experience.
- Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks.
- May be required to be licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration; military ratings may substitute.
- Minimum 18 months as a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI), Quality Insurance Inspector, or Inspector Authorization (IA) as applicable.
- Preferred 24 months F/A-18 experience within the last 36 months.
- Complete CDI qualification syllabus and all qualifications to obtain CDI within 90 days of employment as applicable.
- Thorough understanding of DOD aircraft maintenance processes preferred.
- Ability to obtain any additional qualifications or licenses required to maintain aircraft.
- Inspect and maintain all company and customer assets, including PPE, in accordance with applicable directives.
- Proficient in English (speak, read, write, understand).
- Secure or obtain a security clearance, DOD CAC privileges, and Special Access Badge requirements.
- Willing and able to work days, nights, weekends as required.
- Current valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Ability to travel.
- Participate in training and qualification of new personnel.
- Document required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual training in a timely manner.
- Maintain courteous and professional demeanor with customers and company employees.
- Working knowledge of aircraft technical orders, job guides, publications; read, interpret, follow, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
- Working knowledge of flight line operations, movement and safety hazards.
- Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line; requires extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
