Tax Associate

Position Overview:

The Tax Associate plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and quality of tax returns prepared for individuals, businesses, and other entities. This position is responsible for reviewing completed returns, identifying discrepancies, and providing clear feedback to preparers while maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate brings a high level of technical tax knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to ensure timely and accurate delivery of tax services.

Responsibilities
  • Review tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Identify errors, inconsistencies, and potential tax savings opportunities, providing detailed feedback to preparers
  • Ensure all required documentation is complete and properly supported prior to filing
  • Review and assist with responses to IRS notices and inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate resolution
  • Collaborate with tax preparers and team members to improve overall quality and efficiency of tax engagements
  • Maintain strong client relationships by communicating complex tax information clearly and professionally when needed
  • Provide guidance on tax software and processes to improve accuracy and efficiency
Growth Targets
  • Actively pursuing or maintaining CPA or EA designation
  • Demonstrate consistent efficiency and high-quality review standards
  • Reduce preparer error rates through effective feedback and coaching
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in tax preparation and/or tax review
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Experience reviewing individual and business tax returns preferred
  • Familiarity with tax preparation software and accounting systems (e.g., Quick Books)
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
