Role Description The Staff Accountant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Lenexa, KS. This role includes preparing and reviewing financial statements, general ledger entries, and account reconciliations for a variety of clients. The Staff Accountant will assist with tax return preparation, support month-end and year-end close processes, and maintain accurate documentation of financial records. Responsibilities also include researching accounting and tax issues, responding to client inquiries, and collaborating with senior team members to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations.
The role involves working with accounting software, maintaining organized work papers, and contributing to process improvements that enhance efficiency and service quality.
Qualifications
- Strong technical accounting skills, including general ledger management, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Tax-related skills, such as individual and business tax return preparation, basic tax research, and familiarity with federal and state tax regulations.
- Proficiency with accounting and office software, including common accounting platforms (e.g., Quick Books or similar), spreadsheet tools, and document management systems.
- Analytical and organizational skills, including attention to detail, ability to manage multiple deadlines, and strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly and work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; progress toward or interest in CPA or EA certification is preferred.
- 1-3 yeas experience in public accounting or a similar professional services environment is beneficial.
