Position OverviewThe primary focus of this role is to provide a wide range of administrative services for department managers. To execute this role effectively the assistant should have a high degree of situational awareness and be technically proficient, able to work independently, proactive, flexible, adaptable, self‑motivated, and a team player. Works effectively in a complex and demanding environment while maintaining a professional attitude and demeanor.
Continually requires a high degree of autonomy. The role necessitates collaborating with multiple projects and departments.
Kiewit's Power Engineering Group brings various project types to life across North America, including gas‑fired generation, power delivery, environmental retrofits, renewables and new technology, and water/wastewater. Our staff leads the power markets engineering process and collaborates with Kiewit's construction teams to focus on safe, cost‑effective and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.
LocationThis position requires working on‑site full‑time in our Lenexa, KS office.
ResponsibilitiesEdit and format communications, presentations, proposals and reports
Coordinate and schedule meetings and appointments, manage calendars, and provide general office support
Assist with travel itineraries and arrangements
Process expense reports, invoices and orders
Serve as a back‑up to other office administrative staff
Perform other administrative duties as required or assigned
Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered
At least one year of experience as administrative assistant
At least one year of meeting and event planning experience
Highly flexible and able to work efficiently in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment
Be highly organized with exceptional time management skills
Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced environment, sometimes with minimal guidance
Requires skills in using computer applications for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet navigation, e‑mail, and calendars
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn and adapt to new programs and processes
Regular, reliable attendance
Work productively and meet deadlines timely
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
