Position Summary
Position (K0244721) is a full‑time, unclassified, regular position within the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The role focuses on federal grant management and reporting, purchasing/contracts management, and financial compliance for the SMU.
Responsibilities- Evaluate and compile information for federal grant applications, reports, and closeouts.
- Prepare budget documents, track expenditures, and maintain cost‑tracking procedures for federal grants.
- Prepare financial status reports and conduct analyses to ensure compliance with OSMRE guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Oversee purchasing and contract administration, including encumbrances, vouchers, and grant sub‑account reporting.
- Reconcile invoices and payments, identify discrepancies, and prepare transaction reports.
- Provide fiscal oversight, reports, and analysis to the SMU Program Administrator.
- Assist with implementing procedural changes to maintain fiscal compliance.
Education
- High school diploma or GED.
Licensing & Certification
- Valid driver’s license required for operating a state or private vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent with two years of relevant experience, or post‑secondary education that can substitute for experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Proofreading and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience in federal grant management and reporting.
- Background in environmental science or related fields.
