Construction Inspector – Roadways

WhatYou’ll Do
- Read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Perform field materials testing on soil, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
- Observe and inspect construction activities for compliance with contract documents.
- Develop the ability to lead inspection projects.
- Maintain timely and accurate project documentation.
- Prepare pay applications, change orders, and perform general administrative duties.
- Conduct environmental inspections.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 5+ years of inspection‑related experience.
- KDOT or MoDOT Certified Inspector Training Certifications preferred (training available if needed).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Broad knowledge of construction materials and methods preferred.
- Experience with earthwork, asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, bridge structures, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and other utilities.
- Self‑motivated with a positive attitude.
- Strong organizational and computer documentation skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift/carry field equipment and samples (50 lb lift test required).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a physical and drug screening.
