We are seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support a federal government construction project located in North Hills, California
. This project involves the complete roof replacement of multiple buildings at an active federal healthcare facility
, requiring strict adherence to safety, housekeeping, and pedestrian protection standards.
The SSHO will be responsible for implementing and enforcing all safety and health requirements in accordance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA 29 CFR 1926
. This role requires a strong on-site presence, attention to detail, and the ability to work professionally in a hospital environment.
Project Duration: 365 days
Key Responsibilities- Enforce compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA 29 CFR 1926 safety standards
- Maintain and implement the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA)
- Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
- Monitor roofing demolition and replacement activities
- Oversee fall protection systems, scaffold use, and telehandler operations
- Ensure pedestrian and hospital occupant safety near construction zones
- Enforce strict housekeeping standards appropriate for a healthcare facility
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals on site
- Provide and document safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports
- Coordinate safety compliance with subcontractors and third parties
- Lead on-site emergency response coordination when required
- Prepare and submit daily safety reports, photos, and inspections
- Utilize Procore or other construction management systems for documentation and submittals
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, insurance standards, and company safety policies
- Proven experience as a Site Safety and Health Officer on federal construction projects
- Experience working in hospital or healthcare facilities strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and federal construction safety requirements
- Ability to remain on-site during all active work shifts
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- OSHA 30 or EM 385-1-1 certification, both preferred
- Scaffold Competent Person
- Fall Protection Competent Person
- Active federal healthcare facility
